About 6063|Often called “architectural aluminum.” The most popular extrusion alloy because it flows through dies easily and produces excellent surface finishes. Softer and weaker than 6061, and less machinable. Can get gummy under the cutter in softer tempers. Its strength is in appearance, not performance. Anodizes beautifully with clean, uniform color. Window frames, door frames, railings, trim, and decorative profiles are its sweet spot. If you’re machining 6063, it’s usually because the part started as an extrusion and needs secondary operations, not because someone chose it as bar stock for a machined part.
About Round Bar|The default starting stock for lathe work. It gets turned, bored, and parted into shafts, pins, bushings, spacers, and just about anything round.
