About A653|ASTM A653 covers steel sheet, zinc-coated (galvanized) or zinc-iron alloy-coated (galvannealed) by the hot-dip process. This is standard galvanized sheet steel. The base steel can be CS (commercial), FS (forming), SS (structural), or HSLAS. The galvanized coating (G90 is the most common weight) provides corrosion protection for outdoor applications.
