About AR500|Abrasion-resistant plate at 500 Brinell hardness (approximately HRC 48-52). Significantly harder than
AR400 and more resistant to wear from abrasive materials. The tradeoff is much harder to form, cut, and weld. Needs plasma or laser cutting. Don't try to shear it. Preheating is mandatory for welding. Used for the highest-wear applications: mining chutes, rock crusher liners, dragline buckets, and anywhere AR400 wears out too fast. Compare to
AR400F (softer, much easier to fabricate) and AR600 (even harder, essentially impossible to form).
