Zinc is a key alloying element in brass and galvanizing processes.

About 385|Architectural bronze (actually a leaded brass: 57% copper, 40% zinc, 3% lead). Don’t let the name fool you — this is a brass, not a true tin bronze. The lead gives it free-machining properties similar to C360. Its selling point is the warm, dark gold color and excellent weathering characteristics for exterior applications. Storefronts, door handles, window frames, and decorative panels are its sweet spot. Machines well and extrudes well. Compare to C360 (similar machinability, lighter color) and 280 Muntz metal (cheaper, no lead, harder to machine).
About Rectangular Bar|Solid rectangular cross-section stock. Functionally similar to flat bar but typically available in thicker, chunkier profiles. The naming varies by supplier — what one calls rectangular bar, another calls flat bar. Used for keys, gibs, wear strips, brackets, and any part where a rectangular starting profile saves setup time versus milling from plate.
