About CPM 20CV|A Crucible particle metallurgy (CPM) stainless tool steel with 1.9% carbon, 20% chromium, 4% vanadium, and 1% molybdenum. Truly stainless with extreme wear resistance from massive vanadium carbide content. PM (powder metallurgy) process ensures fine, uniform carbide distribution impossible to achieve through conventional melting. HRC 59-61. Used for high-performance knife blades, plastic injection molding screws and barrels where both corrosion resistance and abrasion resistance are needed. Compare to D2 (much cheaper, semi-stainless, less wear-resistant) and CPM S30V (less wear-resistant but tougher).
