About 642|Aluminum silicon bronze (91.5% copper, 7% aluminum, 1.5% silicon). The silicon addition improves castability and adds slightly better wear properties compared to straight aluminum bronze. Good corrosion resistance and high strength. Used for pump components, valve bodies, marine hardware, and wear-resistant bushings. Machines similarly to 614 — tough but manageable with carbide. Compare to 614 (no silicon, slightly different properties) and 655 silicon bronze (different alloy system, more silicon, less aluminum).
