1008 Steel Round Bar

Steel 1008 Round Bar Prices

Current 1008 Steel Round Bar prices by dimension, with $/lb for cross-size comparison.

About 1008|Very low carbon steel (0.08%), almost exclusively a sheet, strip, and wire product. Extremely formable and ductile. Meant for deep drawing, stamping, and cold heading, not machining. If it ends up in your lathe, expect gummy, stringy chips and poor surface finish. The material deforms instead of shearing cleanly. Used for sheet metal enclosures, cold-headed fasteners, wire products, and any stamped part where formability is the priority. Compare to 1010 (slightly more carbon, similar applications), 1018 (actual machining stock), and CS-B (similar softness without defined chemistry).
About Round Bar|The default starting stock for lathe work. It gets turned, bored, and parted into shafts, pins, bushings, spacers, and just about anything round.
