About 655|Silicon bronze (97% copper, 3% silicon). High strength with excellent corrosion resistance, especially in industrial and marine atmospheres. The go-to alloy for welded bronze fabrications because it welds beautifully with standard TIG/MIG processes. Used for marine hardware, poles, chemical equipment, and anywhere you need a strong, weldable, corrosion-resistant copper alloy. Machines harder than leaded bronzes — the silicon makes it tough and somewhat gummy. Use sharp carbide at moderate speeds. Compare to 614 aluminum bronze (even stronger, different corrosion profile) and C510 phosphor bronze (better spring properties, worse machinability).
