About Torlon 4301|Polyamide-imide (PAI). The highest-performing unfilled thermoplastic you can machine. Continuous use to 500°F with strength retention that embarrasses most plastics at room temperature. Used for jet engine components, semiconductor equipment, and anywhere you'd use metal but need the weight savings or chemical resistance of plastic. Very expensive ($100+ per pound). Machines with carbide at moderate speeds. Compare to
PEEK (similar temperature range, less strong, cheaper) and Vespel (polyimide, even higher temperature but essentially unmoldable, machined only).
