About A656 GR80 TY7|HSLA plate steel with 80 KSI minimum yield, Type 7 (vanadium-nitrogen treated). A high-strength plate grade for structural and heavy equipment applications. Fills the gap between A572 GR50 (50 KSI) and A514 (100 KSI). Weldable with proper procedures but more demanding than A572. Used for crane booms, heavy equipment frames, and structural members where you need more strength than GR50 without going to quench-and-tempered plate. Compare to A572 GR50 (lower strength, easier to weld) and A514 (Q&T, higher strength, more expensive).

About Plate|Thick flat stock, generally 3/16" and up, used for machined base plates, fixture plates, wear surfaces, and structural fabrication. Heavier grades get milled, drilled, and tapped directly.
