About A513|ASTM A513 covers electric-resistance-welded carbon steel mechanical tubing. This is the workhorse mechanical tube spec: lighter gauge, tighter tolerances, and better surface finish than structural A500 tubing. Used for furniture, automotive components, conveyor rollers, and any mechanical application. Available in round, square, and rectangular profiles. Typically 1010-1020 carbon range. Machines adequately for secondary operations. Compare to A500 (structural, heavier wall, looser tolerances) and DOM tubing (drawn over mandrel, much tighter ID tolerance).
