About 5454|Similar to 5052 and 5086 but specifically rated for elevated temperature service (above 150°F), which is where 5083 and 5086 can become susceptible to stress corrosion cracking. This makes it the go-to alloy for pressure vessels, chemical tanks, and hot marine applications. Moderate strength, good weldability, decent corrosion resistance. Not a machining alloy. If you’re building something that sees both heat and corrosive environments, 5454 is likely spec’d for a reason.
About Plate|Thick flat stock, generally 3/16" and up, used for machined base plates, fixture plates, wear surfaces, and structural fabrication. Heavier grades get milled, drilled, and tapped directly.
