About Nitronic 50|A nitrogen-strengthened austenitic stainless (UNS S20910) with roughly twice the yield strength of
316 in the annealed condition. Excellent corrosion resistance, comparable to 316, combined with high strength without cold working. Non-magnetic. Used for marine fasteners, valve stems, pump shafts, and any application needing the corrosion resistance of 316 with significantly more strength. Machines harder than 316 due to the higher strength. Use carbide, reduce speeds, and keep feeds aggressive. Compare to 316 (half the yield strength, easier to machine) and
2205 duplex (similar strength, magnetic, different corrosion profile).
