About Nitronic 60|A nitrogen-strengthened austenitic stainless (UNS S21800) with exceptional galling resistance. Where 304 and 316 will gall and seize under metal-to-metal sliding contact, Nitronic 60 resists it. This makes it the go-to alloy for wear rings, bushings, pins, and any component that slides against another stainless part without lubrication. Also has high strength similar to Nitronic 50. Machines slightly better than Nitronic 50. Compare to 316 (will gall under sliding contact) and Stellite (cobalt-based hardfacing, even better wear resistance but much more expensive).
