Hot Rolled Coil (HRC) is the benchmark for raw steel prices.

About A1011|ASTM A1011 covers hot-rolled carbon steel sheet and strip. The hot-rolled counterpart to A1008. Comes with mill scale and wider thickness tolerances than cold-rolled. Cheaper than cold-rolled for applications where surface finish and tight dimensions aren't critical. Used for structural fabrication, general sheet metal work, and any application where the part gets painted or coated. Compare to A1008 (cold-rolled, better surface, tighter tolerances) and A36 (structural plate, similar chemistry).
About Sheet|Thin flat stock, generally under 3/16", used for stamping, bending, shearing, and laser/plasma cutting. It's the starting material for enclosures, panels, brackets, and formed sheet metal parts.
