Steel 1050 Sheet Prices

Current 1050 Steel Sheet prices by dimension, with $/lb for cross-size comparison.

1050-Hot Rolled Sheet is currently $0.69/lb.

About 1050|Medium-carbon steel with 0.50% carbon. Slightly stronger and harder than 1045, with the same through-hardening capability. Higher carbon means slightly better wear resistance but reduced weldability and toughness compared to 1045. Used for springs, shafts, and parts that need to be harder than what 1045 provides. Machines well in the annealed condition with good chip breaking. Can reach HRC 55-58 with proper heat treatment. Compare to 1045 (slightly softer, easier to weld, more forgiving) and 4150 (alloy version with deeper hardenability).
About Sheet|Thin flat stock, generally under 3/16", used for stamping, bending, shearing, and laser/plasma cutting. It's the starting material for enclosures, panels, brackets, and formed sheet metal parts.
