About 7050|High-strength aerospace aluminum, designed to fix 7075’s biggest weakness: stress corrosion cracking in thick sections. Where 7075 can be unreliable in heavy forgings and thick plate over 3 inches, 7050-T7451 provides excellent SCC resistance with only a slight reduction in strength. This is wing spar material, bulkhead material, and heavy aerospace forging stock. Machines well like all 7xxx alloys — clean chips, good surface finish. More expensive than 7075 and available primarily in thick plate and forgings rather than standard bar stock. Compare to 7075 (slightly stronger in thin sections, less reliable in thick) and 2024 (lower strength, better fatigue resistance).

About Plate|Thick flat stock, generally 3/16" and up, used for machined base plates, fixture plates, wear surfaces, and structural fabrication. Heavier grades get milled, drilled, and tapped directly.
