About 905|High-tin bronze (88% copper, 10% tin, 2% zinc). The higher tin content compared to
C903 provides improved wear resistance and hardness. Excellent for gears, bearings, and bushings under heavy loads in corrosive environments. This is the premium tin bronze for demanding applications. Machines adequately — harder than leaded bronzes but not as difficult as aluminum bronzes. Used in marine applications, pumps, and heavy machinery. Compare to C903 (slightly less tin, more zinc, similar applications) and
C954 aluminum bronze (higher strength, different wear characteristics).
