About 907|Tin bronze (89% copper, 11% tin). The highest tin content in the common tin bronze series. Maximum wear resistance and hardness among the tin bronzes, making it ideal for heavy-duty gears and worm wheels. The high tin content gives excellent resistance to saltwater corrosion. Used in marine propulsion gears, heavy industrial bearings, and pump components where maximum wear life is required. Harder to machine than lower-tin alloys but manageable with carbide. Compare to
C905 (slightly less tin, slightly easier to machine) and
C954 aluminum bronze (different alloy system, higher strength).
