About 5005|Low-strength aluminum-magnesium alloy, mainly used for sheet metal and architectural applications. Similar to 3003 in machinability, meaning not great. Its main selling point is excellent corrosion resistance and a very clean anodized appearance, making it popular for anodized architectural trim and decorative panels. Not a machining alloy. If you see it in a shop, it’s usually being formed or fabricated, not turned or milled. Think of it as 3003’s slightly prettier cousin.
About Sheet|Thin flat stock, generally under 3/16", used for stamping, bending, shearing, and laser/plasma cutting. It's the starting material for enclosures, panels, brackets, and formed sheet metal parts.
