About H13|Hot work tool steel (5% chromium, 1.35% molybdenum, 1% vanadium). The standard for die-casting dies, extrusion tooling, and hot forging dies. Maintains hardness and toughness at elevated temperatures (up to 1000°F+). Typically used at HRC 44-52. Machines well in the annealed condition with carbide. In the pre-hardened condition, use coated carbide at reduced speeds. Used for aluminum die-casting dies, extrusion mandrels, hot shear blades, and forging dies. Compare to S7 (better impact resistance, lower hot hardness) and A2 (cold work, not for elevated temperatures).

About Square Bar|Solid square stock used for keys, keystock, spacers, and parts with flat reference surfaces. It's easier to clamp in a vise than round bar when you need to mill features on multiple sides.
