About Polycarbonate|A transparent engineering thermoplastic with exceptional impact resistance, essentially unbreakable in normal use. Optically clear. Used for machine guards, sight glasses, protective shields, and transparent enclosures. Machines well with sharp tools at moderate speeds. Use coolant to avoid surface hazing from heat. Don't use ammonia-based coolants. Polycarbonate is sensitive to stress cracking from certain chemicals. Compare to Acrylic (optically clearer but brittle) and PETG (cheaper, good clarity, less impact resistant).
