About 6262|Free-machining aluminum with lead and bismuth additions. Chemically similar to 6061 but with chip-breaking additives that make it dramatically easier to machine. Rated alongside 2011 as the best-machining aluminum alloy. Unlike 2011, it retains the good corrosion resistance and anodizability of the 6xxx family. Used for high-volume screw machine parts, fittings, valve bodies, and anything where cycle time on automatic lathes matters. Availability is tighter than 6061 or 2011, and it costs more. If you can get it, it’s the best of both worlds: 6061 corrosion properties with 2011 machining characteristics. Compare to 2011 (similar machinability, worse corrosion resistance) and 6061 (readily available, gummier to machine).
About Hex Bar|Six-sided bar stock used for bolts, nuts, fittings, and any part that needs a wrench-friendly grip. It self-centers in a 3-jaw chuck, making it common in screw machine and CNC lathe work.
